If you are confused as to why some of the characters have two actors to play them, this is because some of them are quite busy that they sometimes need other actors to stand in for them like NMB48’s Fujie Reina and AKB48’s Haruka Ishida.

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

As the red hot Summer 2014 season is about to end with several anime already in their last episode, a new batch of anime are set to take their place. Autumn 2014 is shaping up to be a big one. We here at SGCafe have already our New Anime to Watch Out For list, and this time, we are looking into anime which are making their return.

These are anime which are either spin-offs, continuations, new seasons, or prequels to anime which have aired before, so new anime like The Seven Deadly Sins and World Trigger will not be included in this one. Unlike our New Anime list, we didn’t have much trouble deciding which series will be included, and without further ado and in no particular order, here are our picks:

Selector Spread Wixoss

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

Yes, it’s a trading card anime, however, it has shocked many tcg players and anime fans alike as its shockingly dark story has given some fans a whole lot of trauma reminiscent of Madoka Magica. This ain’t your normal TCG anime people and its sequel promises to be even darker as it explores the mysteries of the game and the eternal girls even further. Couple that with Gen Urobutcher and Kill’em All Tomino’s respective new anime and your all set with a very dark trifecta! Good luck!

Mobile Suit Gundam Reconguista in G

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

Brace yourselves ladies and gentlemen, legendary anime director and Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino is back with a new Gundam project, and this new series focuses on the Reguild Century, RG, which is set after the Universal Century (UC) so this counts the new series a sequel to the UC series like the original 1979 anime, Gundam Zeta, ZZ, and so on. As this is directed by good’ol “Kill’em All Tomino”, don’t get too attached to some characters as he is known to kill them off in the most gruesome deaths possible. Tomino says that he is dedicating the series to children, and to adults who may not like it, outspoken as he is, he told them to not watch it.

Gundam Build Fighters Try

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

Autumn 2014 will not feature just one Gundam series, but two, and the other being Gundam Build Fighters Try, which is set after the original Gundam Build Fighters anime which got many fans interested in Gundam again after Gundam AGE failed to impress fans. Instead of the usual one-on-one battles in GBF, this new series will instead feature three-on-three GunPla team battles.

Fate/ Stay Night

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

It is one of the most hyped anime this season, and with good reason as ufotable’s version of the Unlimited Blade Works route aka the Rin Tohsaka route has been much awaited by fans after the success of Fate/ Zero. It’s Fate, and with the beautiful animations done by ufotable, one could not help but be excited.

Yowamushi Pedal Grand Road

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

After leaving the fans hanging at the edge of their seats with a cliff hanger of an ending, Yowamushi Pedal Grand Road promises to be an even more competitive season as it will feature the epic conclusion of the National Inter-high arc. The anime may not be very well known outside of Japan, but in that country, it has a very big fan base and its hype has even rivaled that of  Fate/ Stay Night and Gundam Reconguista in G. Expect more thrilling bicycle battles on the roads of Japan with this new season.

Chaika Avenging Battle

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

Chaika fans rejoice as everybody’s favorite meme princess is returning with her two saboteur “employees” and her mischievous dragoon friend. After becoming a rather funny meme the last time, Chaika’s return promises more battles and will reveal more on the secrets to her mysterious birth. Shocking Truth!

Log Horizon 2

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

This is that other anime about MMO players who are stuck in the world that is NOT Sword Art Online. Log Horizon may not have all of SAO’s hype or its worldwide fan base, but its loyal fans have said that the anime is better than SAO in terms of story and characters.

Psycho-Pass 2

Eight returning anime you should continue watching this Autumn 2014

Autumn 2014 is one of the most anticipated anime seasons this year, and for good reason, and one of the season’s most awaited anime is Psycho-Pass which left many hanging after it ended abruptly. This crime mystery series will once again be written by Madoka Magica and Fate/ Zero writer Gen Urobuchi, so expect the unexpected when it comes to the story’s twists and turns. Oh, and don’t get too attached to some characters because given who the writer is, they might die a gruesome death as early as episode 3 (Mami Tomoe anyone?) And think about it, this season will feature an anime written by Gen “The Butcher” Urobuchi as well as an anime directed by Yoshiyuki “Kill’em All” Tomino. Good luck!

So what do you think of our picks?
