Every single anime fan out there has that one anime series which got them hooked into anime. For some, its a childhood favorite like Dragon Ball or Sailor Moon, while for others, its a newer series like K-On!! or Kuroko’s Basketball. Japanese character database Charapedia has recently asked its readers which anime series made people hooked or addicted into anime.

I wasn’t much of an anime fan until 3 years ago, which was when I first watched A Certain Magical Index, which to my own surprise got the top spot in Charapedia’s ranking.

 

The series not only made characters like Touma, Mikoto, Index, and Accelerator household names in Japan, but it also made light novels a whole lot more popular, with the A Certain series being one of the longest running series out there.

 

Another light novel anime gets the spot just under A Certain series, and it is Sword Art Online which converted many people in Japan into otakus after it first aired.
