Scarlett Johansson to star in the Hollywood movie adaptation of ‘Ghost in the Shell’

According to American entertainment website, Variety, Dreamworks Pictures has now chosen the star of its Hollywood adaptation of the classic Japanese anime movie, Ghost in the Shell, and it is none other than A-lister, Scarlett Johansson, who was just kicking butt in Hollywood action movies like Lucy and of course, her roles as Black Widow in The Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Ghost in the Shell is a 1995 anime movie based on the seinen manga written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow. Set in a post-cyberpunk world, Ghost in the Shell follows Motoko Kusanagi and the rest of the Public Security Section 9 as they deal with technological threats. It has become one of the best animated movies to ever come out of Japan and was so successful that even Hollywood has taken notice.

DreamWorks executive and legendary director, Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, E.T., Indiana Jones) is a huge fan of the original anime movie and has wanted this project to be realized for a long time now. With ScarJo’s commitment, this new movie project should be greenlit pretty soon.
